Following the success of the award-winning Corsair table design, Swindon-based office furniture maker Whites asked us to focus our attention on desking and work walls. The result, a new range called Piet, is launched during Clerkenwell Design Week (19-21 May) to coincide with the rebranding of the 84-year-old company.
At the core of the new design is a rectangular leg frame, with integrated power and charging sockets and bright-coloured highlighting. Our aim was to create a dynamic composition in the office landscape, in the spirit of the De Stijl art movement. As the movement’s founder, Theo van Doesburg, said: “nothing is more concrete, more real than a line, a colour, a surface.”
