At the busiest period ever in the airport’s history and after thorough off-site validation, our concept for the security compliance zones went live at Heathrow Terminal 3 during the 2012 Olympics. The furniture islands are designed to alert passengers to the regulations on prohibited items and to provide facilities for them to organise before security screening. They also segregate for recycling the vast number of water bottles that are disposed of each day at Heathrow.
