Swindon-based manufacturer WJ White had never used external designers before they commissioned Wills Watson+Associates to address their boardroom and executive conference furniture. As first concept models evolved into pre-production prototypes, a strong design signature emerged from the construction of the robust steel leg frame and, in particular, the ribbon-like bright chrome plate that extends from the tip of the foot up to the top of the cantilevered leg.
Technical challenges had to be met, for example how to create a table large enough for 12 people yet easily movable when reconfiguring the meeting area. Our solution is the distinctive Gullwing table, which inspired the name of the range: Corsair.
